Begining and Ending at the Same Time

2006
Two screen video 9 mins loop, silent.
This work takes a simple camera action, the zoom, and uses it to play with notions of distance and time. Each landscape shot (gathered over a period of two years in many different locations) is a 15 second zoom-in on the subject. On one screen this zoom is projected, and on the other the exact reflection in space and time is projected, a zoom out from the same point. There is a single frame or moment when the two zooms ‘cross over’ one mirroring the other.
